Job summary

Hill Phoenix, Inc. in Richmond, VA is seeking a Painter I to apply powder paint coatings to refrigerated display case parts and support the paint department’s quality standards. You will prep, spray, and test equipment, perform color changes, and help maintain a safe, efficient line.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a Hill PHOENIX certification, and prior paint or powder coating experience; strong communication and teamwork are valued in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Applies powder paint coating using manual paint guns while remaining in compliance with all operational and quality standards.
• Promotes and maintains a safe work environment.
• Test and adjust equipment prior to parts arriving at paint booth.
• Preform preventative maintenance on powder booth, spray parts, etc.
• Preform preventative maintenance of washer system as required.
• Utilize a paint gun to paint / powder coat refrigerated display case parts on a suspended conveyor.
• Adjust line speed to correspond with parts being painted.
• Perform color changes following established procedures and time limits.
• Inspect completed parts exiting the paint booth for defects and notify lead/supervisor as required.
• Utilize a tape measure, reading to the nearest 1/16".
• Maintain work area in clean, safe and organized manner.
• Effectively interact and communicate with paint line team leaders and team members.
• Assume other activities and responsibilities from time-to-time as directed by supervision.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for a Painter that will be primarily responsible for painting parts in Paint Department. He/She is responsible for touching up parts as needed to meet quality standards, ensure enough paint is at workstation for color being painted to prevent downtime, testing and adjusting equipment prior to parts arriving at paint booth.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

• May be required to perform specific tasks that involve standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, or kneeling.
• Must be able to lift with or without mechanical aids on a recurring basis (up to 50 lbs.).
• Work is performed within a production environment, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.

Pay Range: USD 18 - 21.60 Hourly

This position is eligible to earn commissions based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable commissions plan.
