Job summary

Job description

We are seeking a skilled, hands‑on Painter to lead and take ownership of painting projects, ensuring conformity to quality standards and production schedules. This role involves preparing and spraying surfaces of manufactured products with protective coatings such as paint, enamel, epoxy, and other designated materials. The ideal candidate shows strong attention to detail, a dedication to quality, and the ability to manage tasks independently or collaboratively.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Load and transport materials to work area.
  • Clean and prepare materials to be painted with abrasives such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade loaded into a machine hopper.
  • Regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through the nozzle.
  • Apply tape over areas that are not to be coated.
  • Fill containers and mix paints and additives to prescribed quantities.
  • Prepare and adjust spray equipment for accurate use, including filling liquid containers, connecting air hoses to spray guns, and selecting the accurate nozzle.
  • Spray onto work surfaces with accurate technique to apply primer or finish coat.
  • Coat areas inaccessible to hand sprayers with a brush.
  • Clean equipment and work areas.
  • Perform required preventative maintenance, including replacing screens and filters.
  • Stage painted products for drying and identify and transfer finished pieces to stockroom or shipping areas.
  • Demonstrate high skill in performing all aspects of the coatings process.
  • Focus on maintaining quality assurance requirements.
  • Fill cavities and dents with putty to attain a smooth surface.
  • Test finished paint products for dry film thickness as specified.
Requirements
  • One year certificate from college or technical school, or three to six months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Keen focus on accuracy and precision.
  • Ability to work independently and multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Physical demands include lifting up to 100 lbs on a regular basis and over 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Must be able to work 6:00am - 4:30pm Mon-Thurs and overtime as needed.
