Job summary

Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis is seeking an experienced journeyman painter to perform painting and surface preparation across the hospital and off-site clinics. This is a full-time, in-person role with an 80-hour pay period and weekday day shifts.

Qualifications

• HS or Vocational school graduate required.
• Completion of an accredited painter's apprenticeship program.
• Two years painting experience as a Journeyman Painter.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Preps surfaces and applies paint, varnish, stain, wall cover and other finishes; includes taping of drywall.
• Decorates and protects interior and exterior surfaces, equipment and furniture of Hospital and clinics.
• Uses paint brushes, rollers, scrapers and heat sources.
• Documents work order requests.
• Inspects construction projects as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned after appropriate training.

Purpose of this position: Performs work of moderate difficulty in the painting and preparation of walls, ceilings, doors and windows and other interior surfaces. Responsible for the Planned (PM) and Corrective Maintenance of the Hospital and all Off-Site Clinic's interior and exterior services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Preps surfaces and applies paint, varnish, stain, wall cover and other finishes; also includes taping of drywall
• Decorates and protects interior and exterior surfaces, equipment and furniture of Hospital and clinics
• Uses paint brushes, rollers, scrapers and heat sources
• Documents work order requests

• Performs other duties as assigned after appropriate training

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

• High school or Vocational school graduate
• Completion of an accredited painter's apprenticeship program
• 2 years painting experience as a Journeyman Painter

Preferred Qualifications

• Hospital or medical setting experience

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

• Basic computer skills
• Considerable knowledge of the tools and methods of the painting trade
• Knowledge of the preparation and use of painting materials and equipment, including taping of drywall
• Ability to exercise judgment in the selection of proper materials
• Ability to mix, blend and match paints
• Working ability to read simple instructions
• Working ability to perform work involving considerable standing, reaching and stooping
