Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

As an essential member of the AES (Alvest Equipment Services) team, the Painter plays a pivotal role in maintaining the quality and aesthetics of our fleet, as well as those of our customers. With meticulous attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to excellence, the Painter diligently prepares surfaces, applies paint coatings, and perfects finishing touches to ensure our equipment maintains its optimal appearance and functionality. Leveraging expertise in paint mixing, application techniques, and surface preparation, the Painter upholds the highest standards of quality and safety while enhancing the durability and longevity of ground support equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Diligently prepare surfaces of GSE vehicles and equipment for painting through meticulous cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming to ensure optimal adhesion and finish.
  • Apply paint coatings to GSE vehicles and equipment using advanced techniques, including spray guns, brushes, or rollers, ensuring precise color matching and flawless finishes.
  • Execute thorough inspections of painted surfaces to uphold stringent quality standards, verifying color accuracy, gloss level, and overall aesthetic appeal to meet client expectations.
  • Conduct minor repairs on surfaces, such as filling in dents or scratches, before painting to ensure a smooth finish.
  • Assist in the handling and transportation of paint materials, including mixing paints, storing them safely, and disposing of waste properly.
  • Maintain accurate records of paint colors used, quantities applied, and equipment maintenance schedules to facilitate inventory management and compliance reporting.
  • Maintain and care for paint spraying equipment, including spray guns, compressors, and paint booths, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards are upheld at all times.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and regulations governing paint handling and equipment operation, minimizing risks and fostering a secure working environment for all team members.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues, including technicians and supervisors, to coordinate painting schedules and prioritize tasks to achieve efficient workflow and timely completion of projects
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma, or equivalent; 2 - 4 years related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Demonstrated experience in automotive painting or industrial painting, with a proven track record of excellence in surface preparation, paint application, and color matching.
  • Proficiency in utilizing various painting techniques and equipment, coupled with a strong understanding of paint types, coatings, and application methods.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to painting operations, coupled with a steadfast dedication to maintaining a safe and secure working environment.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Average to advanced computer skills necessary with an aptitude to acquire increased skills preferred.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and a commitment to delivering superior workmanship, with the ability to identify and rectify imperfections to achieve flawless finishes
  • Skilled in making administrative processes clear and efficient
  • Adaptable to changes in the work environment and able to deal positively with frequent change
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language.
  • Ability to work both as a team and/or independently with great success.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
