Job summary

Staffmark Group is seeking a skilled Painter in Chattanooga, TN to finish automotive bumpers with high-quality surfaces. You will inspect surfaces, buff, polish, and perform touch-ups while maintaining safety and process standards.

The role supports a fast-paced manufacturing environment offering growth within a professional team. Requires a high school diploma or GED; automotive/paint experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect painted automotive bumpers for quality and adherence to customer specs.
  • Identify paint defects such as scratches, runs, orange peel, and contamination.
  • Perform buffing, polishing, sanding, and finishing to achieve a high-quality surface.
  • Complete minor paint touch-ups and surface preparation as required.
  • Operate finishing tools safely and report any defects to quality.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and comply with safety requirements.

Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour

Schedule: 2nd Shift | Monday - Friday | 1:30 PM - 10 PM

Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Automotive, manufacturing, collision repair, paint, or refinishing experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, quality standards, and safety procedures.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Experience Requirements
  • Previous experience in automotive manufacturing, paint finishing, quality inspection, detailing, buffing, polishing, or production environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of automotive paint defects, surface preparation, and finishing techniques is highly desirable.
  • Experience using buffing wheels, polishers, sanders, and other hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify cosmetic defects and quality concerns.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining high quality standards.
Physical Capabilities
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle automotive bumpers safely and carefully.
  • Manual dexterity to perform buffing, polishing, sanding, and touch-up work.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Strong visual acuity to inspect painted surfaces and identify defects.
Job Duties
  • Inspect painted automotive bumpers for quality, appearance, and compliance with customer specifications.
  • Identify paint defects including scratches, runs, sags, orange peel, dirt contamination, and uneven coverage.
  • Perform buffing, polishing, sanding, and finishing activities to achieve a high quality surface finish.
  • Complete minor paint touch-ups and surface preparation as required.
  • Safely operate polishers, buffing equipment, sanders, and other finishing tools.
  • Separate and report defective parts to quality and production personnel.
  • Handle products carefully to prevent damage, contamination, or rework.
  • Maintain production efficiency while meeting quality and customer standards.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety requirements.
