Job summary

Bombardier is seeking skilled aircraft painters at its Wichita Service/Compltn.Center to read drawings, prepare surfaces, and apply coatings with a focus on safety and quality during production and flight-test activities.

You will perform masking, stripping, sanding, and touch-up work, while documenting tasks per IPM and supporting other areas as needed. Benefits include insurance plans, retirement savings, and EAP.

Qualifications

• Experience with preparation and painting aircraft or equivalent (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Read engineering drawings to identify tasks for painting.
• Apply safety absorbent to hangar floor and spray aircraft surface with stripper to remove all paint.
• Mask, unmask, and re-mask areas to protect windows and surfaces.
• Remove stripper, excess paint, and contaminants using water, solvents, air, and brushes.
• Sand, grind, and buff surfaces; apply putty and sealers as preparation for primer and paint.
• Apply Alodine to aircraft surface using spray equipment.
• Perform touch-up work as required.
• Document work per Inspection Procedures Manual (IPM).
• Support production, flight test, and other areas as needed.

• Adhere to General Work Requirements
• Read engineering drawings to identify the tasks to be performed in preparation for the application of chemicals and paint to aircraft surface.
• Apply safety absorbent to hangar floor and spray aircraft surface with stripper to remove all paint.
• Assist with moving aircraft to appropriate bay.
• Mask, unmask, and re-mask appropriate areas of aircraft surface to ensure complete protection of windows and other areas susceptible to damage.
• Remove stripper, excess paint, and/or contaminants using water, solvents, air blower, and/or brushes.
• Sand, grind, and buff polished areas of aircraft surface, apply putty to body dents, and replace sealer in preparation for the application of primer and paint.
• Apply Alodine to aircraft surface using spray equipment.
• Perform touch-up work as required.
• Document work performed per Inspection Procedures Manual (IPM)
• Perform above tasks in support of production, flight test, and other outside areas as required.
• Assist other employees in the performance of their duties within area(s) of qualification.
