Job summary

Epika Fleet Services is hiring skilled painters for heavy-duty equipment, trucks and fleet assets. The role focuses on high-quality refinishing using HVLP spray equipment, color matching, and adherence to safety standards.

You will lead multi-stage paint jobs, assist junior painters, and ensure finish quality from prep to final inspection. A strong team player with own tools is preferred.

Qualifications

5+ years painting and refinishing heavy-duty equipment or trucks.
Expert HVLP spray equipment and paint booth operation.
Strong color matching with two-part urethanes and epoxies.
Ability to plan and execute complex multi-stage paint jobs with minimal supervision.
Provide own tools and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

Performs full-cycle surface prep, priming, painting and refinishing on heavy-duty equipment.
Sandblasts, primes and preps frames, cabs, booms and components for paint.
Mixes industrial coatings to manufacturer specs and matches OEM finishes.
Operates spray guns and booth equipment to apply primer, base coat and clear coats.
Inspects finished work and communicates findings to management.
Maintains spray equipment, paint booth and PPE inventory per safety rules.

What You'll Do

Performs full-cycle surface prep, priming, painting and refinishing on heavy-duty construction equipment including dump trucks, dozers, excavators, wheel loaders, articulated haulers, cranes and similar off-highway assets.
Sandblasts, sands, masks, primes and preps frames, cabs, booms, buckets, panels and components for paint application.
Mixes industrial coatings to manufacturer specifications and color-matches OEM finishes (Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Volvo, Case and others).
Operates HVLP spray guns, pressure pots and paint booth equipment to apply primer, single-stage, base coat and clear coat systems including epoxies, urethanes and industrial enamels.
Owns the quality of finished work end-to-end - buffs, polishes and details to a standard that holds up in the field.
Serves as a technical resource for junior painters and body techs; provides guidance on prep, mixing, application and finish correction.
Performs final inspection on paint work and signs off on customer-ready units.
Maintains spray equipment, paint booth, mixing room and PPE inventory in clean, code-compliant working order.
Follows and enforces all OSHA, EPA and shop safety protocols for handling solvents, isocyanates and respiratory PPE.
Communicates directly with management and customers regarding additional found damage, scope changes, timeline impacts and best refinish solutions on high-spec jobs.
Compiles inspection reports, documents repairs and reports all findings to management.
Responds as soon as possible to client queries, interacting with our customers in person or via phone.

What You'll Need To Have

5+ years painting and refinishing heavy-duty construction equipment, off-highway equipment, or medium/heavy duty trucks
Expert-level proficiency with HVLP spray equipment, paint booth operation and prep equipment (sandblasters, DA sanders, etc.)
Strong color matching skills and deep experience with two-part urethanes, epoxies and industrial coating systems
Ability to plan and execute complex multi-stage paint jobs with minimal supervision
Follow oral and written instructions to complete daily tasks
Basic reading and writing skills to complete customer repair orders
Basic computer skills to submit repairs for billing
Ability to work in a team environment while following shop safety procedures
Ability to lift 50 lbs. without assistance and up to 100 lbs. with assistance
Provide own tools

What Will Help You Stand Out

PPG, Sherwin-Williams, Axalta or comparable manufacturer paint certification
I-CAR or ASE refinish certification
Experience with OEM color matching for major construction equipment brands (Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Volvo)
Experience with sandblasting, media blasting and powder coatingExperience mentoring or leading junior painters
High School Diploma or equivalent
Class A or Class B CDL
