Job description

STS Technical Services is hiring Paint Prep Technicians in Liberty, Missouri. This is a regular full-time, non-exempt role supporting paint operations in a manufacturing and production environment.

The Paint Prep Technician is responsible for preparing parts for the painting process by wiping, sanding, inspecting, plugging and masking components. This role also supports part handling, quality inspection, overhead hoist operation, defect prevention and safe work practices in accordance with production standards and 6S requirements.

Position Summary

The Paint Prep Technician prepares parts and components for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, plugging and inspecting materials before they move through the paint process. This position also removes excess water and debris from parts, hangs parts using overhead hoists and helps ensure all components meet quality and production standards.

Additional duties may include operating material handling equipment, maintaining inventory and supporting a clean, safe and organized production environment.

Key Responsibilities

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned.

  • Wipe, sand and inspect parts, including preparation for paint repair
  • Plug and mask parts to ensure proper paint adhesion
  • Blow out excess water and debris from cavities within parts
  • Operate overhead hoists to hang parts for painting
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet production and quality standards
  • Assist in identifying and addressing root causes of paint defects
  • Safely operate material handling equipment such as forklifts or tuggers
  • Maintain inventory by labeling, stocking and recording materials and supplies when needed
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with safety procedures and 6S standards
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime as needed, including evenings, weekends and holidays, to meet business and production demands
  • Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance in person and on site
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
Standout Qualifications
  • Tractor certification
  • Telescopic Material Handler License
