Job summary

Ditch Witch, a premier division of The Toro Company, in Perry, Oklahoma, is seeking a Paint Manufacturing Engineer to oversee the day-to-day operation of the paint finishing systems, supervise technicians and maintenance personnel, and ensure regulatory reporting and compliance.

Qualified candidates hold a Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering with 5–8 years in manufacturing and 2–4 years in paint finishing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering with 5–8 years of manufacturing experience.
  • BSME/BSIE/BSCE or similar engineering discipline with 1–3 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Familiarity with basic chemical theory; strong computer background; supervisory and budgeting abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operation of the paint finishing equipment.
  • Direct reports include Paint Finishing Technician(s) and Paint Maintenance Mechanic(s).
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance programs and emergency repairs to ensure high uptime.
  • Assess future equipment needs and justify capital expenditures.
  • Manage operating budgets for supplies, labor and chemicals.
  • Stay current with environmental issues related to paint finishing, emissions, and hazardous waste.
  • Assist in filing reports with EPA, DNR and other agencies.
  • Maintain inventories of consumables and parts; train personnel on equipment and safety.

Paint Manufacturing Engineer at Ditch Witch

The Paint Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the paint finishing systems. This person will perform supervisory and administrative duties for paint technicians and maintenance personnel. They will also cover governmental regulatory guidelines and reporting of water quality, air emissions, and hazardous waste on a defined basis.

What Will You Do?
  • Supervise and direct daily operation of the paint finishing equipment.
  • Direct reports include the Paint Finishing Technician(s) and Paint Maintenance Mechanic(s).
  • Coordinate all preventative maintenance programs and emergency repairs with the maintenance department and outside vendors to assure a minimum of 99% up-time.
  • Deal with future equipment requirements and capital expenditures to maintain technological changes should be investigated and justified.
  • Control the operating budgets of all supplies and operating accounts, (labor, paint, chemicals, repair).
  • Stay current with all environmental issues as associated with paint finishing, air emissions, and hazardous waste.
  • Aide in filing appropriate reports with the E.P.A., D.N.R., and other regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure appropriate inventories are maintained for consumables, repair parts, and supplies.
  • Complete training of all personnel as to function of equipment, safe handling of chemicals and paint, also, computer skills necessary to maintain functional performance.
  • Review and follow up of Q.C. performance testing and analysis.
  • Monitor all operating parameters of the pretreatment and paint system on an agreed upon frequency, take necessary action when appropriate, display results.
  • Maintain outstanding housekeeping 100% of the time.
  • Troubleshoot necessary processes to maintain uptime and minimize quality deviations.
  • Maintain accurate MSDS inventory sheets as it affects the Right-To-Know act.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, and maintenance departments for operational assistance and direction.
  • Work with outside suppliers to assist in providing improvements and latest technologies in finishing quality and operation.
  • Maintain all paint SOP’s.
  • Develop and maintain all paint production tooling.
What Do You Need?
  • Engineer III: Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Chemical Engineering or similar engineering discipline and 5-8 years of experience in manufacturing systems, equipment, processes, tooling, and work measurement. 2-4 years of experience in paint finishing technology. Be familiar with basic chemical theory. Have a strong computer background. Possess good supervisory and budgeting skills.
  • Manufacturing Engineer II: BSME, BSIE, BSCE (Chemical) or similar engineering discipline and 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing systems, equipment, processes, tooling, and work measurement. 2-4 years of experience in paint finishing technology. Be familiar with basic chemical theory. Have a strong computer background. Possess good supervisory and budgeting skills.

A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $78,600-$98,200.
