Qualifications

• Candidate must be a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• PA: Graduation from an accredited PA program and Master's degree.
• PA: Current or eligible for NC Medical Board licensure and NCCPA certification.
• NP: MSN or higher and RN/NP licensure in NC; board certification as Family Nurse Practitioner; BLS.

Responsibilities

• Deliver team-based patient care for chronic and complex pain conditions
• Perform comprehensive examinations and evaluations
• Diagnose and manage patients with chronic and complex pain conditions
• Develop individualized patient care and treatment plans
• Collaborate with physicians, APPs, nurses, and other healthcare team members
• Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures
• Educate patients about diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
• Perform procedural skills according to departmental and practice guidelines
• Participate in surgical and interventional procedure follow-up care
• Develop expertise in imaging and laboratory interpretation, surgical follow-up, procedural follow-up, non-opioid medication management, diagnosis and treatment planning, and interventional pain medicine
• Precept students and/or other medical learners as appropriate

Requirements

• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• Physician Assistant: Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Physician Assistant: Master's degree or higher required
• Physician Assistant: Current or eligible for North Carolina Medical Board licensure
• Physician Assistant: Current NCCPA certification
• Physician Assistant: BLS certification required
• Nurse Practitioner: Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner master’s program
• Nurse Practitioner: Master's degree or higher required
• Nurse Practitioner: Current or eligible for North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner licensure
• Nurse Practitioner: Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner through AANP or ANCC
• Nurse Practitioner: BLS certification required
• Previous clinical experience preferred but not required
• Familiarity with neurology, neurosurgery, spine medicine, orthopedics, and general medicine
• Excellent communication skills and commitment to patient education
• Ability to function in accordance with regulatory requirements and departmental-specific credentialing requirements
