Job summary

AdventHealth in Merriam, Kansas, seeks a Registered Nurse to promote and restore patient health through the nursing process. You will collaborate with physicians and a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive, safe care and support families’ well-being.

The role requires an RN license, BLS certification, and a minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing, with acute care experience preferred. This full-time position offers day shifts and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for promoting and restoring patients' health through the nursing process by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. This position collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care while supporting the physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual well-being of patients and families. The RN maintains compliance with facility policies, professional nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and state nursing practice regulations while delivering safe, quality care and promoting positive patient outcomes.

Essential Functions

• Conducts comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors affecting patient health.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized plans of care based on patient needs, evidence-based practice, and established standards of care.
• Administers medications and treatments accurately and safely according to physician orders and hospital protocols while monitoring patient responses and potential adverse reactions.
• Educates patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, discharge planning, and self-care strategies.
• Collaborates with physicians, ancillary departments, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to coordinate and optimize patient care.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation of patient information, care activities, interventions, and outcomes within the medical record.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of care plans and interventions and modifies treatment approaches as necessary to achieve desired patient outcomes.
• Maintains compliance with infection prevention, safety standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Provides emotional support and therapeutic communication to patients and families.
• Delegates and supervises patient care activities provided by other healthcare team members to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Participates in professional development, quality improvement initiatives, and performance improvement activities.
• Responds promptly and effectively to emergency situations and code events, providing appropriate clinical interventions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Organizational and multitasking skills.
• Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures.
• Ability to work as a team player within a patient care unit.
• Effective verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of EKG interpretation based on patient population requirements and Advanced Life Support standards.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to navigate Microsoft Windows-based programs and electronic medical records.
• Ability to use sound clinical judgment and abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions, and revise plans of care based on patient outcomes.

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

Work Experience

• One year of acute care hospital nursing experience preferred.
