Job summary

McKesson High Volume Solutions Inc. is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Software Development Intern for Summer 2027 who will work with our team in Irving, TX. This paid internship offers hands-on experience with real-world software projects and mentorship from experienced engineers.

Responsibilities include collaborating with senior developers and product managers, writing and testing code in C#, Java, and Python, and contributing to documentation and code reviews.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Expected graduation date Fall 2027, Spring 2028, Fall 2028 or Spring 2029.
• Solid understanding of fundamental computer science principles, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., C#, Java, Python).
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) concepts.
• Solid problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Prior internship experience or personal projects demonstrating software development aptitude is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior developers and product managers to understand project requirements and contribute to technical design discussions.
• Write, test, and debug clean, efficient, and well-documented code in various programming languages (e.g., C#, Java, Python).
• Assist in the development and maintenance of software applications, features, and tools.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and learning from peers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and issues.
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of technical documentation.
• Learn and apply new technologies, development methodologies, and best practices.
• Engage in team meetings, stand-ups, and other collaborative activities.
