Job summary

Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc. (AECI) offers a paid Safety Internship at our Springfield, MO headquarters for Summer 2027.

This full-time position provides hands-on experience supporting safety initiatives across AECI and may offer college credit. You will participate in safety audits, industrial hygiene monitoring, safety systems support, events and training, PPE inventory, and travel to plant locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Students currently enrolled in an Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Management, or related program.
• Strong computer skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organizational and analytical skills.
• Willingness to learn and work with employees across different locations.

Responsibilities

• Safety Audits: Participate in safety compliance audits at AECI plant locations.
• Industrial Hygiene & Chemical Inventory: Assist with industrial hygiene monitoring and chemical inventory activities at AECI plant locations.
• Safety Systems Support: Assist with safety permitting and chemical inventory management software.
• Safety Events & Training: Help organize safety events and training activities.
• PPE Support: Assist with personal protective equipment inventory and fit testing.
• Plant Experience: Travel to AECI plant locations for work assignments as needed.
