The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center Command in the Kansas City Metro Area is offering a 12‑week Manager‑in‑Training (MIT) program for aspiring retail leaders. This full‑time role provides hands‑on experience in thrift store operations, team leadership, sales growth, and financial accountability within an mission‑driven environment.

MIT participants train across the network of Salvation Army stores, with potential placement as Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, or Lead Sales

Qualifications

• 2 years' experience in staff management and development or equivalent education/experience.
• Proven retail management experience with leadership potential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to The Salvation Army mission and professional integrity.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and develop team members, with flexible schedule readiness.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for training.

Responsibilities

• Lead store operations and develop a high‑performing team during the MIT program.
• Support sales growth, production oversight, and customer service excellence.
• Maintain financial accountability and contribute to mission‑focused retail practices.
• Collaborate with leadership teams across multiple Kansas City area stores.
• Prepare for Store Manager, Assistant Manager, or Lead Sales Associate roles upon completion.
