Job summary

Chehalis School District offers a Paid Trainee Bus Driver Program to prepare individuals for student transportation roles. The program includes 60 hours of paid training at minimum wage and employer-funded CDL costs, with a commitment to stay for at least one year post-training.

After completion, the Transportation Driver Step 1 position pays $25.68 per hour. Participants will learn safe driving on school routes, bus inspections, record-keeping, required trainings, and first aid.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with passenger and school bus endorsements, no air brake restriction.
• Must maintain a valid CPR/First Aid card.
• Must pass a WA DOT physical and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Drive bus on scheduled routes and events, maintain passenger safety.
• Inspect, service, and clean bus; report mechanical issues.
• Complete required records and reports per district policies.
• Attend trainings and administer first aid if needed.
• Observe traffic laws and district bus regulations.
• Discharge students at authorized stops and supervise student conduct.
