Great Outdoor Provision Co. in Virginia Beach seeks a Paddlesports Product Manager Contact (PMC) to join our full-time team.

This role blends customer service with hands-on kayak gear installations, repairs, and product knowledge to guide customers on the floor. You will lead small teams on displays, coordinate with manufacturers on warranties, manage store systems, and help customers select gear for kayaking, fishing, and outdoor travel.

Responsabilidades

• Perform paddle sports related installations, repairs, maintenance, and builds including roof racks, small trailers, and new kayak assembly.
• Act as liaison between manufacturers and customers to support warranty claims and special orders.
• Management and organization of systems across multiple platforms.
• Leading small teams of staff in processing and merchandising products and displays.
• Support fitting, outfitting, and guiding customers toward the right gear for their needs.
• Greet and assist customers with warmth, attentiveness, and product knowledge.
• Operate the register, restock inventory, and keep the sales floor tidy and shoppable.
• Lift, move, and organize boxes, shipments, and kayaks up to 150lbs.
• Communicate clearly and proactively with teammates and managers.
• Take initiative and contribute to a friendly, inclusive, and helpful shop culture.
• Handling cash related to opening and closing register drawers.

Our product spans outdoor sportswear, footwear, travel gear, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, canoeing, and fly fishing.

Our paddle sports customer heavily focuses on kayak fishing. We have folks who engage in other various aspects of the category, but that is the primary focus. We are the premier specialty paddle sports retailer in the region, drawing customers from all over Virginia and North Carolina.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking energetic, reliable, and outdoor-loving teammates to join our sales floor crew. You don’t need to be an expert in every activity. We’ll help you learn what you need to know, but you should enjoy helping people, working with a team, and staying active in a fast-paced environment. Candidates will need to be handy and able to learn how to maintain, repair, and perform installations on kayaks. This person should be familiar with paddling and being on the water in a way that can help guide and inform customers and fellow staff alike.

Key Responsibilities

Relevant Experience

• Kayak fishing
• Installation of fish finders, electric motors, and other various kayak accessories
• Hull repair with epoxy and plastic welding
• Maintenance of pedal drives and rudder systems
• Backpacking, camping, and hiking
• Installation and use of roof and truck rack systems

Details & Requirements

• Schedule: Full-Time staff work an average of 35 hours per week, mostly within the framework of four 9-hour workdays per week. Flexibility of schedule is a necessity, as staff have varied shift schedules week to week.
• Store Hours:
  • Mon–Fri: 10am-6pm
  • Sat: 9am-6pm
  • Sun: 11am–5pm

(extended hours during the holiday months)
