Job summary

University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center seeks an experienced PACU RN for a full-time day shift. You will care for patients recovering from anesthesia, collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia providers, and support high-quality outcomes and patient experience in a fast-paced perioperative setting.

The role emphasizes safe, compassionate care, clinical judgment, and commitment to staff development within a collaborative recovery team. Rotating weekends/holidays apply.

Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Maryland or Compact eligibility.
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• 2–3 years perioperative nursing experience (PACU, Pre-Op, PAT) required.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Five to seven years perioperative nursing experience preferred.
• Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent care to unit-specific patients and act as clinical resource.
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team to address patient/family needs.
• Support charge nurse decisions and perform charge role as needed.
• Develop clinical practice protocols and standards for the unit.
• Participate in unit-based processes (PI, Professional Development, Clinical Practice, Teamwork).
• Orient and mentor new nurses and students; contribute to staff development.
• Other duties as assigned.
