Job summary

Alpine Surgery Center, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Perioperative Nurse (PACU/PreOp) for PRN shifts in our Anchorage, AK ambulatory surgery center. You will plan, execute and evaluate nursing care preoperatively and postoperatively until discharge, upholding the high standards of Surgery Ventures powered by HCA Healthcare.

You will perform preoperative assessments, manage IV therapies, ensure equipment readiness, and support patient discharge criteria in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Active RN license as required by state of employment.
• BCLS certification; online certification not acceptable.
• ACLS required within 30 days of hire.
• PALS if required by facility within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare your patients’ care area adequately before case.
• Ensure availability of necessary equipment and supplies for your patients’ procedure.
• Conduct complete physical and psychological assessment and evaluation of patient history and diagnostic tests.
• Administer pre-operative medications and intravenous therapy as prescribed.
• Demonstrate proper technique for IV catheter insertion, maintenance, and removal.
• Check dressings and/or operative site and report abnormalities to the surgeon.
• Ensure patients meet discharge criteria.

What you will do in this role

Qualifications you will need

• Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma or Higher degree in Nursing Required
• 1+ years of nursing experience in a clinical setting, preferably in PACU, ICU or Surgery
• Active RN license as required by state of employment
• BCLS Certification upon employment. ***online certification not acceptable
• ACLS required within 30-days of hire
• PALS if required by facility within 30-days of hire

Located next to physical therapy for total joint patients. The center completes over 300 cases a month. Services are in orthopedic and pain management.
