Job summary

Lakeside Surgery Center in Orlando, FL is seeking a PRN Pre-Op/PACU RN or LPN to support ambulatory eye surgery services across Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties. The role emphasizes patient-centered care and teamwork with ophthalmologists and optometrists.

The candidate must have a Florida nursing license, BLS, and at least 1 year in ambulatory surgery or OR; ophthalmology experience is preferred. ACLS is a plus as team members provide high-quality eye care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Florida state license to practice as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse is required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience as RN or LPN in ambulatory surgery or operating room; ophthalmology experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, instruct and prepare patients prior to surgery.
• Ensure operative and informed consents are signed and correct.
• Record vital statistics to verify readiness for procedure.
• Initiate IV access and inform patients about procedures.
• Assess post-operative condition and monitor recovery.
• Monitor vital signs and progress to meet discharge criteria.
• Document findings in patient files.
• Respond to patient questions and ensure comfort.
• Monitor for condition changes and report to physician.
• Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assesses, instructs & prepares patients prior to surgery
• Ensures that operative and informed consents are signed and correct
• Takes and records vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
• Initiates intravenous lines (IV) and ensures patients are informed about procedure(s)
• Assesses patients’ post-operative condition
• Monitors vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria
• Logs all findings in patient files
• Responds to patient questions and ensures patient comfort
• Monitors patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physician
• Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Candidate must demonstrate proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills, be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, required.
• Current Florida state license to practice as a registered nurse or licensed practice nurse, required.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse in an ambulatory surgery or operating room, required. Ophthalmology experience, preferred.
• Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification, required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, preferred.
