Job summary

IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN seeks a dedicated Post Anesthesia Care Nurse for a full-time, on-site role. You will monitor patients recovering from anesthesia, manage pain, and collaborate with anesthesiologists and surgeons to ensure safe transitions from PACU to next care steps.

The ideal candidate holds an Indiana RN license (or eligibility), a current BLS and ACLS, and at least some PACU/critical care experience. Strong teamwork and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Indiana (or eligibility to obtain)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Experience in Post Anesthesia Care (PACU)
• Experience in Critical Care Medicine
• Proficiency in Recovery Room workflows
• Excellent communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary teams
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• BSN or higher degree beneficial

Responsibilities

• Monitor vital signs and assess consciousness in PACU.
• Manage pain and nausea and respond to changes in patient status.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered; collaborate with anesthesiologists and surgeons.
• Ensure safe transitions from PACU to inpatient units or discharge.
• Document assessments, interventions and outcomes per policy.
• Participate in quality and safety initiatives.
