Evolution Research Group in San Antonio, TX is seeking a PACU Nurse to monitor post-operative patients in an outpatient setting. The role focuses on vital signs, wound care, medication administration, and educating patients and families on homecare after surgery.

The PRN position requires current RN licensure in Texas, BLS/ACLS, and ability to communicate clearly in English. Prior ICU/ER recovery experience is preferred, and familiarity with clinical software such as RealTime is a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of professional nursing with current and valid licensure with Texas State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse
• 2 years of nursing experience in ICU/Emergency Room/Recovery Room or other critical care environments preferred
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, with additional languages preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS
• PALS Preferred

Responsibilities

• Monitor post-op patients in an outpatient setting, assessing vital signs and recovery progress
• Oversee bandages, administer medications, and ensure safety of the patient
• Educate patients and families about homecare instructions and follow-up care
• Maintain a clean, organized preoperative environment and ensure supplies are ready
• Document patient condition and communicate changes to physicians/anesthesiologist
• Coordinate discharge planning with the healthcare team

Job Description:

The PACU nurse is responsible for the monitoring of post-op patients who are recovering from a surgical procedure in an outpatient setting. The PACU nurse must oversee vital signs, change bandages, administer necessary medications, assess overall recovery, and educate patients and their families about homecare instructions.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the preoperative area always has a clean and therapeutic environment for all patients.
• Ensure supplies and equipment needed are available and in good working order.
• Admit the patient to the unit and prepares him/her for the scheduled procedure.
• Monitor the patient\'s medical condition and reports any significant changes to the admitting physician or anesthesiologist.
• Assure surgical consent and preoperative test results are in the medical record prior to proposed procedure.
• Report any important health history facts to the operating room nurse.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate post operatively.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient\'s discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
• Additionally, this role may encompass responsibilities beyond those outlined above, as required by the evolving needs of the organization. This job description is intended as a foundation and may be subject to expansion or modification to best suit ERG’s objectives.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Education and experience
