Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC is seeking a Post-Anesthesia Nurse to provide and oversee professional nursing care in the PACU. The role emphasizes collaboration with the anesthesia team, adherence to hospital policies, and maintaining patient safety during recovery.

Experience in PACU/ICU/ED is required; the position includes 9-hour shifts totaling 36 hours per week and one weekend call every five weekends. CPAN certification is encouraged with exam fee reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Nursing or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient and identify patient care needs.
• Use patient assessment information to organize appropriate patient care.
• Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Facilitate a safe environment.
• Maintain required competencies.
• Functions as charge nurse as assigned.
• Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care.
• Administers medication as ordered by physician.
• Recognize life threatening situations and respond appropriately.
• Establish collaborative interdisciplinary relationships with other Health System staff and medical staff.
• Monitor the quality of care based on outcome indicators.
• Participate in cost containment and accurate charging for patient services.
• Adjust care based on age-specific needs.
• Support patients' cultural and spiritual beliefs within medical regimen.
