Job summary

Textron Systems is seeking a Full time Mechanical Engineer with experience in packaging and transportation solutions. You will design and integrate mechanical components and systems, create 3D drawings and data packs, and coordinate with suppliers within a multidiscipline team.

The ideal candidate has a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, 5 years of related experience, and the ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance. Strong communication and presentation skills are required.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 5 years of related experience in mechanical design or packaging.
• Experience designing packaging and mechanical components.
• Knowledge of MIL-STD-810 and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Ability to obtain Secret level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Write specifications or designs for packaging for transport, storage, and handling of items weighing from a few to hundreds of pounds.
• Participate in detailed design of structural components.
• Contribute to development and design integration of mechanical components and systems.
• Create Technical Data Packages with 3D drawings, specs, and BOMs for assemblies.
• Prepare and direct high quality mechanical and electro-mechanical drawings.
• Transition product design to production and test.
• Write technical and proposal documents.
• Create detailed design reports and presentations summarizing results.

About This Role

Textron Systems is seeking a Full time Mechanical Engineer with experience in mechanical design focused on transportation packaging. The candidate should possess good communication and presentation skills and be comfortable interacting with suppliers within a multidiscipline team. The position requires experience integrating component design solutions into an overall assembly. This position requires that the candidate be a US citizen with or capable of receiving a secret level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Writing specifications for, or designing, packaging for transportation, storage and handling of deliverable items weighing from a few to up to several hundred pounds

• Participating in the detailed design of structural components.

• Being a member of a team responsible for the development and design integration of mechanical components and systems.

• Creation of Technical Data Packages that include 3D drawings, specifications and materials lists for component and assemblies of mechanical and electro-mechanical applications.

• Preparing and directing high quality mechanical and electro-mechanical detail and assembly drawings

• Transitioning product design to production and test.

• Writing technical and proposal documents.

• Creating detailed design reports and presentations to summarize design/analysis results.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of material properties, manufacturing processes, and structural design

• Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 transport requirements, including but not limited to: shock, vibration, environmental hazards

• The candidate should be well versed in CAD design utilizing 3D digital product development tools and understanding geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering

• 5 years of experience in a related field

• Possesses or has ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance
