Job summary

Butterball Farms, Inc. is hiring a Packer to join our Grand Rapids flavor room. You will pack product, visually inspect for defects, monitor weight, assemble boxes, print labels, and perform routine quality checks on the line.

This is a full shift 6a–2p, Monday–Friday with occasional Saturdays for seasonal increases, at $15.00 per hour. Butterball offers room for growth, a strong benefits package, 401K match, tuition reimbursement, and an EAP to support employees.

Qualifications

• Good eye-hand coordination.
• Ability to read and understand standard work instructions.
• Ability to work at a consistent, fast pace for extended periods.
• Be flexible with their work schedule to accommodate high work volume.
• General math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Ability to adhere to GMP policies and maintain quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Keep up with rate and pack product into boxes.
• Visually inspect the product for defects.
• Monitor consistency and weight to ensure specification.
• Assemble boxes and print labels.
• Enter information to create labels and print them.
• Hourly metal detector checks.
• Gather butter samples for QA testing.
• Work at a fast pace and multi-task.
• Create skid patterns and stack boxes per product spec.
• Close boxes using a tape gun or tape machine.
• Verify date, lot code, and label on product.
• Enter downtime or line issues into RedZone on a tablet.
• Transport finished product to the freezer and wrap skids.
• Maintain a clean area and assist with cleanup.

Pay: $15.00/hour

Schedule Available: 6a-2p Monday - Friday with occasional and Saturdays for seasonal increases.

Line: Flavor Room 3

As a Packer you will be responsible to:

• Keep up with rate and pack product into boxes
• Visually inspect the product for any defects
• Carefully monitor the consistency and weight of the butter to make sure it is within range
• Properly assemble boxes and place appropriate bags
• Properly enter information to create labels and print them
• Hourly metal detector checks
• Gather butter samples for QA testing
• Work at a fast pace and multi-task
• Properly create skid pattern and stack boxes based on product specification
• Properly use a tape-gun to close boxes or properly use a tape machine
• Visualize and verify the correct date, lot code, and label is reflecting on the product being run
• Ability to enter downtime or any line/product issues into RedZone using a tablet
• Transport finished product to the freezer and wrap finished skids
• Maintain a clean area throughout the shift and after the run is complete help the team clean up the area
• Additional tasks as requested
