Job Summary

The responsibilities of this role include controlling flow of products and materials to and from manufacturing areas. Ship, receive, label, and properly store products and materials. Load and unload trucks. Operate industrial forklifts in a safe and professional manner. Transport supplies, tooling and equipment as required. Maintain high accuracy level on paperwork and electronic transactions/records. You will demonstrate a proactive mindset assisting in supporting and contributing to Lean Sigma programs and activities, while supporting colleagues and managers to meet quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure the Supply is maintained into manufacturing areas with pallets, work to process products, packaging supplies, lining material, and other miscellaneous materials.
  • Maintain FIFO (first-in first-out) system for supplying materials.
  • Ensure the movement of Warehouse product, unused materials, supplies, and other items or equipment is undertaken as required.
  • Maintain acceptable conditions of warehoused items, orderly stock placement, and ensure products remain damage-free.
  • Pull, label, and prepare product for shipment.
  • Ensure accuracy of prepared shipments and all customer requirements are met.
  • Load product, materials, or equipment on freight carriers ensuring all are damage-free prior to shipping.
  • Unload inbound materials, equipment, and supplies ensuring all are damage-free prior to acceptance. Verify accuracy of paperwork, label, and put away materials.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to colleagues
  • Assemble and supply cardboard and scrap totes to the production floor.
  • Load scrap trailers, load and empty cardboard compactor, and process scrap cardboard for recycling.
  • Ensure that trash is removed from production floor and empty dumpsters in the trash compactor.
  • Ensure that the supply carts on the production floor are stocked as appropriate.
  • Perform necessary paperwork and electronic transactions/records applicable to actions performed. Maintain high level of accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Material Control Supervisor.
  • Actively participate and comply with all West HSE programs and regulations and champion these to more junior work colleagues.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work environment in accordance with West 5S program.
  • Report issues, problems or irregularities beyond your control to the appropriate person.
  • Provide training to more junior work colleagues.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Drive box truck within campus limits.
  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks.
Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
Work Experience
  • No minimum work experience required.
  • Minimum 1 year in an industrial/warehouse setting preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year experience driving a forklift preferred.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Packaging, coordination of material, and inventory management knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English preferred.
License and Certifications
  • Active and valid driver’s license required.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
Travel Requirements

5%: Up to 13 business days per year

Physical Requirements

Medium-Exerting up to 50lb/22kg of force occasionally and/or up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or up to 10lbs/4kgs of force constantly to move objects.
