Job summary

Abbott in Altavista, VA seeks a Packaging Utility Operator to support filler, seamer and can washer operations within the Nutrition division. The role emphasizes maintenance, adherence to GMP and safety, and collaboration across shifts.

• Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, analytical troubleshooting and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

• For Filler Operation: Maintains product level, ensures proper parameters for filler, seamer and can washer, performs preventive maintenance, reviews downtime report, releases commodities, performs CIL on equipment, visual inspections, and fill weight checks.
• For Clean Up Operation: Performs preventative maintenance checks on filler valves and pistons, ensures proper cleaning methods during wash jobs, cleans filler valves, pistons, screens, bowls, product filters, floors and walls.
• Ensures proper FP tank hook-up to filling lines and that can weights are within the desired range.
• Meets all safety and housekeeping GMP requirements.
• Coordinates pre- and post-shift meetings.
• Runs reports and conducts data analysis as needed (e.g., TPR reports on failed retort loads).
• Coordinates isolation and line separation events.
• Batch setup and communication in EBR, as well as line execution.
• Distributes work orders and generates reprints.
• QA communications for batch release.
• Drives continuous improvement initiatives and identifies bottlenecks with risk mitigation.
