Job summary

Viatris is seeking a Packaging Technician B to support packaging lines, perform changeover activities, and maintain equipment to meet production targets. Responsibilities include line testing, parts identification, and basic electrical troubleshooting while following MSOP guidelines.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED with 4–6 years in a general maintenance environment, plus lean manufacturing and problem‑solving experience.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required; technical, vocational, or HS program preferred.
  • 4–6 years of related maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Set up changeover packaging equipment/line centers.
  • Maintain equipment during production runs to meet production rates and quality standards.
  • Maintain change parts in good mechanical condition.
  • Identify and order/repair replacement parts for packaging equipment.
  • Disassemble/clean/sanitize product filling equipment.
  • Keep records/logbooks as required by MSOP and management.
  • Perform line tests and support changes in products/packages with parts design/implementation.
  • Provide basic electrical/electronic troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Perform trainee and C-level duties as required.
  • Adhere to safety, environmental and quality practices per SOPs and regulations.

Key responsibilities for this role include:
  • Set/up changeover packaging equipment/line centers as required.
  • Maintain equipment during production runs to achieve desired production rates/planning values/quality standards.
  • Maintain change parts in good mechanical condition.
  • Identify and order/repair replacement parts for Packaging equipment.
  • Disassemble/clean/sanitize product filling equipment.
  • Maintain records/logbooks/ etc. as required by MSOP and/or management.
  • Perform line tests to determine compatibility of equipment/products/packages, support new product/package changes with change parts identification/design and implementation under limited direction.
  • To provide basic electrical/electronic trouble shooting and associated repairs.
  • Perform all equipment technician trainee and "C", duties and responsibilities.
  • Within area of responsibility, understand and comply with all safety, environmental and quality practices and procedures as outlined in organizational/departmental guidelines and SOPs as well as applicable federal, state and local regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
The minimum qualifications for this role are:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Some technical, vocational, or high school programs are preferred.
  • Minimum 4 – 6 years related experience and/or training in a general maintenance environment is required.
  • Must have good mechanical and basic electrical understanding.
  • Knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing/operational excellence, standardization, is preferred.
  • Experience leading and/or supporting Kaizen events, VSM and problem-solving initiatives.
