Job summary

DFA is hiring for production roles in our cheese packaging facility. The starting wage is $20.75 per hour. Available shifts include 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., four days per week, or 4:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., five days per week.

Responsibilities include loading cheese for packaging, handling crates, palletizing, boxes construction, and quality checks. Training will be provided for new personnel, with emphasis on safety and sanitation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• No prior experience is required.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Load cheese for packaging machines onto conveyors.
• Remove cheese from brine cages.
• Stack cheese boxes on pallets and prepare pallets for cooler.
• Construct boxes and pack product in boxes.
• Remove packaging material from rejected cheese and repack.
• Inspect product for foreign material and imperfections; rerun via metal detector as needed.
• Perform cleaning and sanitation to maintain equipment.
• Maintain neat, orderly work areas.
• Assist in other production areas and training of new personnel.
• Minimize water usage and wastewater within the scope of the position.
• Follow all DFA GMPs and safety/regulatory requirements.
• Adhere to all safety policies.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Load cheese for packaging machines onto conveyors.
• Remove cheese from brine cages.
• Stack cheese boxes on pallets neatly, so that the finished goods pallets fit into the cooler racks without damaging.
• Construct boxes and pack product in boxes
• Remove packaging material from rejected cheese and ready cheese for repackaging.
• Inspect product and packaging for foreign material and imperfections. If found, segregate suspect product. Rerun product through metal detector and if unacceptable, document vat number and inform supervisor.
• Perform cleaning and sanitation tasks as required to maintain plant equipment.
• Maintain work areas in a neat and orderly fashion.
• Assist in other production areas as required.
• Assist in training of new personnel.
• Minimize water usage and the generation of wastewater within the scope of the position.
• Follow all DFA GMP’s and works in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
• Must adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

Education and Experience

• Ability to use simple writing, adding, subtracting and multiplication.
• Ability to carry out instructions.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
