Job description

The Packaging Technical Specialist serves as the technical leader for vehicle architecture, packaging, and integration activities supporting the development of new vehicles that meet future regulatory requirements and competitive customer expectations. The Technical Specialist provides day-to-day technical direction to the Packaging team, establishes priorities and engineering standards, mentors team members, and ensures consistent execution across programs and regions. Responsibilities include establishing the physical and functional integration of vehicle systems and components during the program planning phase (concept through program approval), translating strategic and functional objectives into technical requirements, creating and analyzing alternative design concepts, packaging and integrating systems and components, benchmarking competitive vehicles, and resolving packaging and adaptation issues as programs move toward production. The candidate will lead an extended cross-functional team, facilitate technical trade-off decisions, identify and upscale risks, and balance competing requirements to achieve the optimal vehicle-level solution. The role will act as a primary technical interface with program leadership and key stakeholders and will present recommendations, design concepts, status, and risks to senior management. This is a team leadership position focused on technical direction, coordination, and capability development; it does not replace the people-management responsibilities of the functional manager.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience of progressively responsible vehicle engineering experience, including demonstrated technical leadership, in one or more of the following areas: Body-in-White, Electrical, Interior Systems, Powertrain Adaptations, Engine Systems (Cooling, Fuel, Exhaust), or Chassis Systems
  • Expertise in TeamCenter, NX CAD Software & Vis Mockup with demonstrated skills to:
    • Develop and manage CAD data structures.
    • Position and manipulate models, cut sections, analyze existing designs.
    • Create and analyze alternative designs and integrate systems and components.
    • Create specialized CAD sessions to support high level and detailed management reviews.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineers; establish technical direction; coordinate workload and priorities; and drive timely resolution of complex cross-functional issues across all Stellantis regions.
  • Able to operate independently, provide sound technical judgment with limited direction, facilitate trade-off decisions, and build alignment within a cross-functional team environment.
  • Proven ability to define team operating methods, review technical deliverables for quality and completeness, track commitments, manage technical risk, and elevate issues with clear recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex technical topics, influence stakeholders without direct authority, and present decisions and risks to senior management.
  • Excellent MS Office skills – PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited or equivalent program
  • Broad vehicle and systems‑integration knowledge across multiple vehicle architectures and engineering disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate stakeholder requirements, lead technical trade studies, and guide teams to a balanced final vehicle design
  • Experience coaching engineers, sharing technical knowledge, and building team capability
  • Excellent relationship‑building, facilitation, conflict‑resolution, and influencing skills
  • Ability to lead teams productively through changing requirements, priorities, and program conditions
  • Ability to present technical strategies, recommendations, and complex design concepts successfully to all levels of management
