AMERIPEN – the American Institute for Packaging and the Environment – seeks a Government Affairs Manager to support legislative and regulatory advocacy at state and federal levels, shaping packaging policy in the United States.

Reporting to the Policy Director, you will implement strategic policy initiatives, engage members, and strengthen AMERIPEN’s position as the authoritative voice for packaging policy while collaborating with industry leaders and decision-makers.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in political science, public affairs or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in government relations, public policy, or related roles.
• Strong policy advocacy experience, preferably within a trade association.
• Self-starter with the ability to act quickly and independently.
• Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners and manage stakeholders.
• Understanding of political processes and advocacy strategies at state and federal levels.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills tailored to audiences.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a small team; Monday.com experience is a plus.

Mansioni

• Manage AMERIPEN’s government affairs-related committees, subcommittees and working groups.
• Monitor packaging-related legislative and regulatory initiatives and identify impacts.
• Collaborate with consultants and lobbyists supporting AMERIPEN’s initiatives.
• Provide regular legislative/regulatory updates to members via reports and virtual meetings.
• Coordinate grassroots advocacy with AMERIPEN members, including testimony preparation and hearings.
• Develop and maintain policy-related resources for AMERIPEN members.
