Job summary

Cheeze Kurls is seeking a Packaging Machine Operator to efficiently run a packaging line and ensure product integrity. The role requires following GMPs, maintaining clean work areas, and adhering to safety protocols while supporting team objectives.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and basic math skills; 1–3 months of related experience is preferred. The position may involve extended schedules and lifting tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate the packaging machine and ensure product integrity.

• Monitor bag weight, code dates, and packaging machine efficiency.
• Report deviations to Team Leader and QA personnel.
• Assist teammates to maintain department efficiency; work extended schedules as needed.

Job Description – Packaging Machine Operator

Under the direction of the Production Team Leader, The Packaging Machine Operator (PMO) is responsible for efficiently and effectively operating a packaging machine, controlling total finished product produced,and ensuring bag and product integrity. Packaging Machine Operators are a key component of our overall business success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

• Follow the guidelines of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), uniform and dress code, and product safety requirements.
• Maintain departmental housekeeping standards, keeping work area clean and safe at all times.
• Maintain a good attendance record and positive attitude.
• Support company policies and be safety conscious at all times.
• Ensure the quality of the finished product including:
  • The integrity of the product package itself, including back and end seals.
  • Customer-mandated code information and packaging machine efficiency.
  • Bag weight variance.
  • Code date integrity.
  • Verification of metal detector performance with Quality Assurance personnel.
  • Reporting all deviations associated with these parameters to the appropriate Team Leader and Quality Assurance personnel.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and operate all of the facility’s packaging machines.
• Assist fellow Packaging Machine Operators, Packers, and Process Operators in ensuring departmental and organizational efficiency.
• Communicate effectively with departmental and plant personnel.
• Work extended schedules as the needs of the business dictate.
• Work in other areas as workload demands.
• Perform daily and weekly cleanup and sanitation, including the proper handling of cleaning equipment and cleaning chemicals, with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Requires general aptitude, mechanical, and organizational skills, a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred and one to three months related experience to become familiar with equipment and processes.

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to Team Leaders, managers, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job:

• The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, tools, or controls; reach above shoulders; and talk and listen.
• The employee is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and use foot/feet to operate machine.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds.
