Job summary

Alphia is seeking a packaging operator on site in the United States to maintain quality and operate packaging lines. You will label, stack, and inspect products, while ensuring GMP compliance and FIFO adherence.

Responsibilities include setup and basic troubleshooting of packaging equipment, data entry into IQS, product changeovers, and participating in line cleaning. The role requires teamwork, independence, and safety-first training.

Qualifications

• Must maintain quality and operate packaging equipment on assigned line.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stack bags on pallets as part of packaging operations.
• Familiar with GMP and QA duties including data entry and product sampling.

Responsibilities

• Package products in bags, boxes, or bulk containers and label/stack on pallets.
• Visually inspect finished product to maintain quality.
• Ensure all packaging materials meet quality standards.
• Participate in facility equipment clean-up between runs.
• Maintain FIFO program adherence.
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot packaging equipment (Bemis 1, Bemis 2, Parsons, Jem lines).
• Perform QA duties: data entry into IQS, HACCP compliance, product changeover, cleaning, sanitation, sampling, and inspection checks.
• Complete required production paperwork accurately.
• Proficiency with Alphia Business Systems (JDE, IQS).
• Anticipate and troubleshoot technical issues; coordinate with Maintenance.
• Perform operator-level preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Collaborate with Maintenance to identify line improvements.
• Provide training and cross-training for plant personnel.
• Follow area-designated restrictions and maintain personal safety and clean work area.

JOB PURPOSE:

Maintain quality and operate packaging equipmentand perform all packaging activities associated with assigned line.

DESCRIPTION OFESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Package products in bags, boxes, or bulk containers; label and stack on pallets Stack bags of product weighing up to 50# from between waist and shoulder height to a pallet between knee and shoulder height.
• Maintainproduct and packaging quality through visually inspecting finished product.
• Ensure product, bags, wraps, seals, boxes, and pallets meet quality standards.
• Participatesin full facility equipment clean-up between runs, as directed.
• Accountable formaintainingand sustaining FIFOprogram.
• Set up, operate, and perform basic trouble shooting of packaging equipment, to include but no limited to: Bemis 1, Bemis 2, Parsons,Jem lines, Palletizers, forklifts, stretch wrappers, scales, metal detectors, belts, control panels, labelers, coders, case erectors, trash compactors.
• Perform QA duties as necessary,to includebut not limited to: Enter data collected from routine checks into IQS software. Know and monitor HACCP compliance in-Process. Assistwith product changeover, cleaning, and sanitation; perform inspectionsrequiredbefore product start-up. Collectfinished product samples for product release testing. Performverification checks of metal detectors and magnets in area of responsibility as specified in Quality Checkpoints. Immediately communicate Quality concerns to Packaging Lead or Supervisor. Participateinthe 1starticle of inspection to ensure food safety and quality.
• Must complete required paperwork accurately and completely, including simple production reports.
• Proficiencyin Alphia Business Systems (i.e., JDE, IQS,etc.) as it applies to the position.
• Anticipatetechnical problems and (whenappropriate)proactively troubleshoot and make technical adjustments and/or notify Maintenance.
• Perform operator-level preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Work with Maintenance and Supervisor toidentifypotential line improvements.
• Responsible for technical training/coaching and crosstrainingother plant personnel and new hires.
• Acknowledge and adhere to the requirement to work only injob-specific designated area.
• Accountable for personal safety, behavior, and performance.
• Responsible formaintaininga clean and organized work area and leaving a clean and organized work area for the following shift.
• Responsible for following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA’s), as well as following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
• Required to notify a supervisor or a lead employee of any situation or observation that may adversely affect food safety and/or quality
