Job summary

Mars Incorporated in Illinois (Mattoon) is seeking a packaging operator to run lines, perform changeovers, and monitor quality in a rotating shift setup. You will also support maintenance calls, ensure a clean, safe environment, and address food safety and product integrity concerns.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, GMP knowledge, basic math and PC skills, and the ability to lift 50 lbs and operate a forklift. Training and growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Operate Tub Line to schedule, perform changeovers and troubleshoot lines.
• Maintain smooth operation of palletizer and blending system.
• Perform quality checks and report results.
• Monitor product flow and meet cut-off tonnes requirements.
• Enter work orders in Weever system; assist maintenance on calls.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and promote safety and product integrity.
• Address food safety and quality concerns; lead in problem solving on floor and in meetings.
• Train other associates and cover vacations as needed.

What are we looking for?

• MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 1-2 years experience (manufacturing environment preferred).
  • Good housekeeping skills and knowledge of GMP's.

  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Ability and willingness to develop and manage self, demonstrate self directed workgroup leadership and contribute to efficiency, quality, and cost optimization with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to operate forklift in a safe manner.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, high and/or confined spaces and have full mobility with ability to climb ladders and stairs.

What will be your key responsibilities?

Performs all of the following duties on a rotational basis in the packaging area of the plant:

• Tub Line operation - run to schedule, do changeovers, troubleshoot lines.
• Maintain smooth operation of palletizer
• Blending system operation and monitoring
• Perform required quality checks and reporting.
• Monitor product flow to line
• Meet cut-off and tonnes requirements.
• Enter work orders into the Weever system as needed and support maintenance on calls.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment that promotes associate safety and product integrity.

Will actively address food safety and quality concerns.

Improve operations through individual and group problem solving and provide leadership in solving problems on the floor and in meetings.

Promote high quality team environment through effective team work and self management with a positive attitude.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• CP0 handoff and other MSE related functions.
• Trains other area associates in operation of lines.
• Other similar duties as assigned.

• Must be able to cover vacations for other packaging associates in this role.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits.Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
