Job summary

Joseph T. Ryerson & Son, Inc. is seeking a Packaging Operator in Streetsboro, OH to perform daily staging, packing, and picking for shipments using proper equipment.

This role supports a high‑volume metals distributer with a focus on accuracy and safety. You will operate forklifts, complete SAP shipping/receiving documentation, and strive for maximum productivity while learning through a registered apprenticeship program during onboarding.

Qualifications

• Skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Minimum 1 year of similar job experience preferred.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer.
• Physical ability to pass vision, hearing, and mobility tests.
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program during onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Pick and stage feedstock for fulfillment orders.
• Break down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders.
• Package material to customer requirements.
• Operate a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed.
• Complete SAP work orders for shipping/receiving on the computer.
• Maximize productivity for finished goods creation.
• Other duties as assigned or as duties may change.

As a Packaging Operator at Ryerson, you will be responsible for day-to-day staging, packing, and picking material for shipments using proper equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders
• Packaging of material to customer requirements
• Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed
• Proper completion of paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping/receiving on the computer
• Maximum productivity for finished goods creation
• All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

• Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
• Minimum 1yearof similar job experience preferred
• Basic math skills
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer
• Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding and new hire training

Wages: $19.83 - $21.00 hourly plus $1 shift differential. A starting wage higher than $19.83 is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.

3rd shift hours: 8pm to 6am Monday through Thursday
