DHL Air (UK) Ltd is hiring a Packaging Operations Supervisor to lead 2nd shift, Monday-Friday, overseeing packaging and throughput across the site. You will drive safety, quality, and productivity while applying lean methods to reduce waste and improve processes.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 0–3 years in packaging or related operations. Competitive national salary ranges from $62,500 to $70,000, with California and Washington bands higher.

• 0-3 years’ industry experience in packaging, manufacturing, or related operations.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Operations or packaging production background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily activity to ensure a safe, clean, and fair work environment for associates.
• Lead productivity improvements by improving processes and staff efficiency.
• Apply lean principles to increase production efficiency.
• Deliver orientation, training, performance reviews, and development as needed; manage turnover objectives.
• Maximize quality and productivity by understanding standards and identifying root causes.
• Plan, supervise, and prioritize daily workload and staffing to minimize unplanned overtime.
• Ensure workload planning and volume forecasting for shift and week.
• Collaborate with regional sites on safety, labor sharing, and best practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues to restore operations quickly.
• Communicate SOPs and conduct pre-shift huddles and hand-offs.
• Execute contract requirements and document accessorial activities.
• Ensure inventory integrity through receiving, picking, shipping, and inventory management.
• Collect performance data aligned with customer, vendor, and site requirements.

Packaging Operations Supervisor

The Operations Supervisor role has a national salary range of $62,500 - $70,000. For roles within California the range is $68,640 - $82,200 and Washington is $77,968 - $82,000. DHL Supply Chain Contract Packaging provides an in DC packaging solution including primary and secondary packaging, POP, display, pallet display etc. We are seeking Operational Leaders with an eye for continuous improvement, secondary packaging and postponement production

• Supervise the necessary daily activity to ensure a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for associates.
• Organize and lead the focus on improved productivity levels in a manner that emphasizes effectiveness by improving processes and the efficiency of associate work.
• Apply lean manufacturing principles to current production processes to identify areas where efficiency can be increased.
• Deliver associate orientation, training, performance reviews, and/or development as appropriateParticipate in the management of turnover among hourly staff consistent with the site turnover objectives.
• Maximizes quality and productivity by understanding job standards for each function, and evaluating performance variances in order to identify root cause and corrective action.
• Plan, supervise, and prioritize daily workload and staffing to minimize the unplanned overtime.
• Ensure shift/daily/weekly workload planning and volume forecasting routines are accomplished (i.e., staffing, equipment, space).
• Collaborate with the regional sites to share in safety, labor sharing, and best practice initiatives.
• Troubleshoot problems during the production process to get the system up and running again as quickly as possible
• Effectively communicate work task Standard Operating Procedures, convey key information during pre-shift meetings and ensure appropriate shift hand-offs.
• Execute daily customer or vendor contract requirements and identify accessorial activity (work outside commercial contracts) and ensure necessary documentation.
• Ensure inventory integrity by timely and accurate receiving, picking, shipping, and inventory management.
• Participate in the collection of performance measurements consistent with customer, vendor, and site requirements.

Required Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, preferred
• 0-3 years’ industry experience in primary packaging, secondary packaging, custom packaging, manufacturing, or related business and/or operations, required
• Operations or packaging production background, preferred
