DHL Supply Chain in Indiana is seeking an Operations Supervisor for packaging and related production activities. The role emphasizes safety, productivity, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced facility.

You will lead weekend shifts after an initial training period, implement lean practices, train staff, manage turnover, and ensure inventory accuracy while coordinating with regional sites for best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, preferred
• 0-3 years’ industry experience in packaging, manufacturing, or related operations, required
• Operations or packaging production background, preferred

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily activity to ensure a safe, clean and fair work environment for associates
• Organize and lead productivity improvements by enhancing processes and staff efficiency
• Apply lean manufacturing to identify efficiency gains
• Deliver orientation, training, and performance reviews; manage turnover objectives
• Maximize quality and productivity by understanding job standards and root-cause analysis
• Plan, supervise, and prioritize daily workload and staffing to minimize unplanned overtime
• Ensure workload planning and volume forecasting, including staffing and equipment
• Collaborate with regional sites on safety, labor sharing, and best practices
• Troubleshoot production issues to resume operations quickly
• Communicate SOPs clearly and ensure proper shift hand-offs
• Meet daily customer/vendor contract requirements and document accessorial activity
• Maintain inventory integrity through receiving, picking, shipping and stock control
• Collect performance metrics aligned with customer, vendor, and site needs

Job description

These roles are first-shift Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, approximately 5am-5pm.

Candidates need to be available to train on first or second shift for approximately 1 month, prior to moving to their weekend schedule.

Packaging Operations Supervisor

The Operations Supervisor role has a national salary range of $62,500 - $70,000.

For roles within California the range is $68,640 - $82,200 and Washington is $77,968 - $82,000.

DHL Supply Chain Contract Packaging provides an in DC packaging solution including primary and secondary packaging, POP, display, pallet display etc. We are seeking Operational Leaders with an eye for continuous improvement, secondary packaging and postponement production

• Supervise the necessary daily activity to ensure a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for associates.
• Organize and lead the focus on improved productivity levels in a manner that emphasizes effectiveness by improving processes and the efficiency of associate work.
• Apply lean manufacturing principles to current production processes to identify areas where efficiency can be increased.
• Deliver associate orientation, training, performance reviews, and/or development as appropriateParticipate in the management of turnover among hourly staff consistent with the site turnover objectives.
• Maximizes quality and productivity by understanding job standards for each function, and evaluating performance variances in order to identify root cause and corrective action.
• Plan, supervise, and prioritize daily workload and staffing to minimize the unplanned overtime.
• Ensure shift/daily/weekly workload planning and volume forecasting routines are accomplished (i.e., staffing, equipment, space).
• Collaborate with the regional sites to share in safety, labor sharing, and best practice initiatives.
• Troubleshoot problems during the production process to get the system up and running again as quickly as possible
• Effectively communicate work task Standard Operating Procedures, convey key information during pre-shift meetings and ensure appropriate shift hand-offs.
• Execute daily customer or vendor contract requirements and identify accessorial activity (work outside commercial contracts) and ensure necessary documentation.
• Ensure inventory integrity by timely and accurate receiving, picking, shipping, and inventory management.
• Participate in the collection of performance measurements consistent with customer, vendor, and site requirements.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, preferred
• 0-3 years’ industry experience in primary packaging, secondary packaging, custom packaging, manufacturing, or related business and/or operations, required
• Operations or packaging production background, preferred
