Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Packaging, Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, Packaging Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with Minitab or other statistical analysis software.

Responsibilities

  • Support pipeline innovations, business protection and maintenance initiatives, and design renovation projects.
  • Assist in the development of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging solutions.
  • Execute testing protocols authored by full-time packaging engineers.
  • Author and execute testing protocols independently as assigned.
  • Partner with packaging operations personnel to ensure protocols are understood, followed, and completed successfully.
  • Collect required samples and coordinate submission to appropriate laboratories for testing and evaluation.
  • Analyze study and test results and provide recommendations to support packaging decisions.
  • Support the execution of distribution studies and packaging performance evaluations.
  • Assist with packaging development activities and technical packaging engineering projects.
  • Serve as a contributor to cross-functional project teams and support change management processes.
  • Coordinate the review and approval of packaging component drawings and specifications.
  • Support component testing, qualification activities, package testing, and manufacturing line trials.
  • Assist with development of bills of materials and third-party process qualifications.
  • Facilitate resolution of packaging-related challenges throughout the development process.

Packaging Operations and Innovation Co-Op
POSITION PURPOSE

This position offers an exciting opportunity to support the Technical Packaging Engineering team through packaging material evaluations, process assessments, and scientific studies intended to support both packaging development and packaging site operations. The successful candidate will execute testing protocols, support packaging innovation initiatives, conduct distribution studies, and contribute to projects related to business protection, maintenance, and design renovations. Through collaboration with both the Technical Packaging Engineering Center of Excellence and site packaging engineering teams, this role provides valuable experience in packaging development, manufacturing support, and cross-functional project execution.

Spring 2027 Co-Op: January 11, 2027 – June 11, 2027

Fall 2027 Co-Op: May 17, 2027 or June 14, 2027 – December 10, 2027

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Serve as a contributor to cross-functional project teams and support change management processes;
  • Coordinate the review and approval of packaging component drawings and specifications;
  • Support component testing, qualification activities, package testing, and manufacturing line trials;
  • Assist with development of bills of materials and third-party process qualifications;
  • Facilitate resolution of packaging-related challenges throughout the development process;
  • Utilize key tools and processes including Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and barcode verification processes;
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver project objectives on time and in full;
  • Integrate Package Engineering activities with Consumer Health Product Experience teams, change management processes, and label control activities to ensure timely project execution;
  • Collect and analyze packaging component and sustainability data.
Key Working Relationships
  • Cross-functional engagement with Engineering, Commercial, Product Supply, and Design teams.
WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required:
  • Completion of at least one year, preferably two years, of bachelor's-level studies in Packaging, Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, Packaging Technology, or a related field;
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Packaging, Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, Packaging Technology, or a related discipline;

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel;
  • Excellent organizational skills;

Preferred:
  • Familiarity with Minitab or other statistical analysis software.

Employees can expect to be paid an hourly rate of approximately between $20.75 to $58.50. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. (if relevant). This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
