Job description

Description:

The packaging mechanic will be responsible for the continuous operation of various manufacturing packaging line systems and equipment within the Packaging and Manufacturing departments. The role includes setting up packaging equipment, performing routine maintenance, repairs, minor electrical troubleshooting, and collaborating with Engineering to install and commission new packaging lines.

Essential Functions:

  1. Troubleshoot and repair all packaging line systems and equipment, including vertical form and fill bagging machines, rotary cartoners, weigh scales, tapers, and conveyors. Collaborate with Engineering to install and commission new packaging line systems. Make modifications to existing lines as needed.
  2. Repair packaging equipment, conducting root cause analysis, referencing technical documentation, assessing material requirements, placing requisitions, and executing repairs. Responsible for replacing parts.
  3. Perform preventive maintenance to ensure proper functioning of all packaging equipment and follow scheduled maintenance routines.
  4. Accurately document work in equipment logbooks, communicate effectively with coworkers during shift handoffs, and record maintenance activities.
  5. Train team members on equipment issues to prevent future problems.
