Job summary

Piping Rock Health Products, Inc is seeking a packaging technician/mechanic to maintain and optimize packaging equipment under supervision, ensuring SOPs and GMPs are followed to guarantee product quality and quantity.

The role involves performing changeovers, troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical components, and conducting preventive maintenance per PM checklists, while lifting up to 50 lbs in a facility handling powders and allergens.

Qualifications

• 3-year minimum experience in a production mechanical trade.
• Ability to conduct machine set-up, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance service.
• General Understanding of equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Preventive Maintenance experience required.
• Understanding of Lock-out/Tag-out.
• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
• Must comply with GMP requirements; training discussed in GMP/on the job.

Responsibilities

• Perform set-ups / equipment changeovers for packaging and process equipment (capping, cartons, feeders, filling machines, labelers, coders, sealers, sorters, wrappers).
• General knowledge of mechanical fundamentals (hydraulic drives, motors, gearboxes, belts, pulleys, bearings).
• Minor understanding of troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic and electrical components (photo sensors, solenoids, actuators, cylinders).
• General understanding of hardware and measuring tools (metric/standard hardware, tape measures, calipers).
• Perform Preventative Maintenance on all assigned production equipment following the PM checklist.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Under the direction of the Manager/Supervisor/Lead Person, the Packaging is responsible for preventive maintenance, minor repairs on all packaging machines. Also responsible for adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) that are in effect assuring the quality and quantity of product produced.

Responsibilities:

• Perform set-ups / equipment changeovers for packaging and process equipment on their assigned resource including (but not limited to): capping, cartons, feeders, filling machines, labelers and coders, sealers, sorters, and wrappers.
• General knowledge of mechanical fundamentals including but not limited to: hydraulic drive systems, motors, gearboxes, belts, pulleys and bearings.
• Minor understanding of troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic and electrical components including but not limited to photo sensors, solenoids, actuators, and cylinders.
• General understanding of hardware and measuring tools, including but not limited to: identification and proper application of metric and standard hardware as well as the use of tape measures and calipers.
• Perform Preventative Maintenance on all assigned production equipment following the PM checklist
• Other duties as assigned.

Role’s Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift 50lbs.
• Work environment may be exposed to powders, chemicals, and allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, dairy, eggs, wheat, gluten, soy, fish, and shellfish).
• Ability to work in a physically challenging environment, including bending, twisting, and standing for up to 8 hours.
