Job Title: N.O. Line 2 Packaging Bake Shop Helper/Day off Relief
Workday Grade Level: H003
Base Rate per Hour: $23 ($23 - $26)
Shift: 3rd
Number of Openings: 1
Hours: Generally starts as early as 10:45 PM until finish, with overtime and weekend work as needed. Times may vary based on schedule, report-offs, and holidays. Good attendance and punctuality required.
Job Summary and Duties:
  1. Cover various positions on Line 2 Packaging for breaks, call-offs, and vacations, including Bake Shop Helper, BLR, Slicer Feeder, and Bagger Caser. Follow all safety and quality standards and work with minimal supervision. May require earlier start times. Other duties as assigned.
  2. Bake Shop Helper: Operate Bagger and Kwiklok machines, case product into baskets or cases, monitor line speed, and ensure product quality.
  3. Slicer Feeder: Feed bread into slicers at about 55 loaves per minute, monitor quality and size, report variances, and conduct safety checks.
  4. Bagger Operator/Caser: Set up and operate Bagger and Kwiklok machines, case product, monitor packaging quality, understand code boards, and assist with area cleanliness and other duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong decision-making and communication skills; ability to exercise good judgment and resolve issues promptly.
  • Critical food safety awareness, including HACCP, CTS, GMPs, SOPs, and safety standards, with focus on contamination prevention, allergen control, and traceability.
  • Adherence to exact formulas and procedures to maintain product quality and label accuracy.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S standards.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • At least two years of related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand for long periods, use hands and arms to manipulate materials, walk, stoop, climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.

Work Environment:

Work involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, temperature extremes, noise, forklift traffic, and wet conditions. Compliance with safety regulations and proper PPE use is mandatory.

Ability to adapt to a changing environment and work under pressure in a team setting. Overtime may be required. Vacation policies may change upon job reassignment. A 90-day performance review and a one-year employment requirement apply.
