Job summary

Winland Foods, Inc. in Tolleson, AZ is hiring a Packaging Machine Operator for a 12-hour day shift (6AM–6:30PM). The rate is $20.80 per hour, reporting to a Production Supervisor.

Responsibilities include ensuring smooth packaging line operation, jam clearance, and ongoing product quality with GMP compliance. The role requires mechanical aptitude, basic math, safety awareness, and the ability to work in a fast-paced food-manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Good communication and math skills are required.
• Solid mechanical aptitude with technical training or equivalent manufacturing experience, preferably in food manufacturing.
• Creative troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with safety procedures and adherence to them.
• Ability to lift 50 lb and push loads over 750 lb.
• Ability to learn to use computer terminals and computer-based equipment.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Monitor product flow from strippers and silos to packaging machines.
• Clear product jams at stripers, in turners, chimneys and scales.
• Add cartons and change packaging films.
• Add containers to case packers.
• Make operational adjustments to maintain machine rates and packaging quality.
• Perform machine and product changeovers within standard time limits.
• Operate and changeover code daters, printers and labelers.
• Monitor and adjust scales for proper weights.
• Complete production paperwork to calculate run time and efficiencies.
• Maintain a sanitary work environment and GMP compliance.
• Support a two-shift operation including overtime as required.

Position: Packaging Machine Operator – 12 Hour Shift Days (Day shift 6AM–6:30PM). Rate: $20.80 per hour.

Supervision: Production Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Monitor product flow from strippers and silos to packaging machines.
• Clear product jams at stripers, in turners, chimneys and scales.
• Add cartons and change packaging films.
• Add containers to case packers.
• Make operational adjustments to maintain proper machine rates and packaging quality.
• Perform machine and product changeovers accurately within the standard allocated time for individual lines.
• Add glue and tape.
• Operate and changeover code daters, printers and labelers.
• Monitor and adjust scales to ensure proper weights.
• Complete required production paperwork to calculate run time, efficiencies and cases produced.
• Maintain a sanitary work environment.
• Ensure work areas are clean and GMPs are fully complied with.
• Accept responsibility for AIB scores in the packaging area.
• Ensure compliance with all safety programs and maintain hazard‑free work areas.
• Produce safe, legal and quality product.
• Adjust own work schedule to support a two‑shift operation, including overtime as required.
• Communicate effectively with team members to support a self‑directed work environment.
• Use sound judgment to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.

Qualifications & Experience

• Good communication skills.

• Solid mechanical aptitude with technical training or equivalent manufacturing experience, preferably in food manufacturing.
• Creative troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Working knowledge of: storage and product delivery systems; computer scales and other weighing devices; metal detectors and check weighers; cartoners, baggers, case packers, and sealers.
• Ability to lift 50lb and push loaded totes with caster wheels over 750lb.
• Ability to learn to use computer terminals and computer‑based equipment.
• Familiarity with formal safety procedures and adherence to them.
• Mechanical ability to analyze basic irregularities in equipment operation.
• Capability to calculate basic math functions accurately and quickly (add, subtract, multiply, divide, percent, etc.).
• Initiative, judgment and reliability in carrying out required functions on a timely basis.
• Capacity to accomplish all assigned duties.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
