Job summary

Shure is seeking a Packaging Engineering intern in Niles, IL to assist with sustainable packaging solutions across the audio product portfolio. You will create fully defined 3D models and 2D documentation using CAD tools and collaborate with product development, manufacturing, and suppliers to validate parts and documentation.

This role offers hands-on experience in packaging materials, cost and environmental impact metrics, and the engineering change process.

Qualifications

• In-progress Bachelor's in Packaging Engineering or Packaging Science.
• Packaging materials, structures, manufacturing processes, and supply chain logistics knowledge.
• Familiarity with ArtiosCAD and Cape Pack Palletizing Software is a plus.
• Authorized to work in the United States; Shure will not sponsor visas.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development and execution of sustainable packaging solutions for Shure’s audio product portfolio
• Catalog and update existing packaging parts and documentation
• Identify opportunities for consolidation of existing parts
• Work directly with packaging suppliers to validate existing documentation and parts
• Create fully defined 3D models and 2D documentation using CAD software, including Siemens NX and ArtiosCAD
• Reduce the environmental impact of Shure packaging
• Monitor and report sustainable packaging performance metrics, including cost, carbon footprint, and waste reduction
• Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging sustainable packaging technologies
• Support ongoing production and manufacturing through the engineering change process as needed
• Support Senior and Staff Packaging Engineers as needed
• Collaborate with product development, marketing, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to meet customer requirements, regulatory compliance, and sustainability targets

Requirements

• In-process of a Bachelor’s in Packaging Engineering or Packaging Science
• Previous packaging internship experience a plus
• Knowledge of packaging materials and structures, manufacturing processes, and supply chain logistics
• Familiarity with packaging-specific software such as ArtiosCAD and Cape Pack Palletizing Software a plus
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and cross-functional team environment, including global team members
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
