Job summary

Planet Pharma is seeking a Packaging Engineer to validate and qualify new packaging materials for absorbable suture products. You will lead packaging validation activities, develop plans, and support GST Focus Factory packaging projects including nylon film qualification. Onsite, full-time position in Connecticut.

You will collaborate with engineering management, design, and manufacturing to ensure compliant, robust packaging solutions and timely deliverables.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Engineering or related field (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Packaging).
• 3–5 years of packaging or validation experience.
• Top technical skills: packaging experience, validation (OQ/IQ/PQ), vision inspection systems

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test packaging solutions for product protection, display, and handling.
• Determine packaging specs based on product needs, costs, legal requirements, and protection needs.
• Consider exterior packaging aesthetics, product identification, sales appeal, printing, and production techniques.
• Prepare GMP documentation and support prototype line development in manufacturing facilities.
• Act as project lead for packaging validation activities and communicate status to stakeholders.

Overview

This role validates and qualifies new packaging materials (foil, Tyvek, film) for absorbable suture products. The candidate will participate in process development activities and create validation plans in accordance with company standards. The role leads projects, communicates deliverables and timing to engineering management, and supports packaging development efforts for the GST Focus Factory, including validating and qualifying new nylon film for absorbable sutures.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test a range of packaging solutions for protection, display, and handling of products.
• Determine packaging specifications based on product needs, cost considerations, legal requirements, and protection requirements (moisture, chemicals, temperature, light, tampering, etc.).
• Consider exterior packaging aesthetics, product identification, sales appeal, printing, and production techniques.
• Prepare documentation and coordinate adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs); support prototype line development in manufacturing facilities/plants.
• Act as project lead for packaging validation activities, and communicate project status and milestones to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Education: BS (or above) in Engineering or related field (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Packaging).
• Experience: 3-5 years of relevant packaging or validation experience.

  • Familiarity with Cognex and Keyence vision inspection systems
