Job summary

The Hershey Company is seeking a Packaging Engineer to design, test, and implement packaging solutions for new and existing products. You will work closely with product, operations, procurement, and engineering teams to ensure packaging performance, production readiness, and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities include developing specifications, evaluating materials, and supporting manufacturing with trials, documentation, and cost analyses within a collaborative, on-site environment in Hershey, PA.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of packaging concepts and principles.
• Fundamental technical knowledge of packaging materials and converting technologies.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand interrelation of material & equipment.
• Ability to design transport simulation tests and interpret results.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Develop and commercialize packaging solutions that meet project objectives and requirements.
• Design, review, test, and recommend packaging concepts for primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging.
• Evaluate packaging materials and automation impacts to optimize efficiency while preserving product integrity.
• Develop and execute testing methodologies, analyze results, and communicate findings.
• Coordinate equipment, line, and distribution trials to validate packaging designs.
• Identify cost and environmental opportunities; drive cost-reduction and standardization initiatives.
