Job summary

Jazwares in Culver City, California, seeks a Manager of Packaging Design to lead packaging designers across our portfolio of trend-driven brands, driving concept-to-prototype execution, art directing visuals, mentoring junior talent, and aligning packaging strategy with consumer trends.

You will guide design teams, manage timelines, collaborate with cross-functional partners, and oversee outsourced projects to deliver cohesive, high-quality packaging that reflects our brand across products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field is a plus.
• 3–5 years packaging design experience in consumer products (CPG), with a focus on toys/kids’ products.
• 2+ years of leadership or management experience.
• Experience with style guides, die-lines, structural concepts, and physical mock-ups.
• Experience with licensed brands.
• Background in trade show design and visual merchandising is a plus.
• Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
• Knowledge of computer modeling software for mock-ups.
• Deep understanding of printing processes and mechanical prep (Pantone/colors, bleeds, proofs).
• Knowledge of packaging materials and manufacturing processes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office & G-Suite.
• Excellent graphic design skills with aesthetics, innovation, and art direction.
• Leadership: coaching, mentoring, inspiring and developing talent.
• Project management and attention to detail; proactive problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development process including brainstorming, design, prototype development, and production.
• Develop packaging design systems that balance functionality with aesthetics and brand integrity.
• Evaluate designs for fit, materials, quality, cost, manufacturability, and transport.
• Assess consumer and market trends for packaging materials.
• Manage timelines and coordinate with leaders and global counterparts on updates.
• Collaborate with senior managers to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
• Lead cross-functional meetings and manage outsourced projects as needed.
• Ensure packaging designs reflect the company brand and get final approvals.
