Job summary

Chembio Diagnostics, Inc. in Medford, NY is seeking a Temporary to Perm Packaging & Automation Machine Operator to support the production of rapid diagnostic test kits.

You will operate, set up, adjust, and troubleshoot packaging equipment in line with GMPs, SOPs, and safety standards. This role requires mechanical aptitude, ability to track output and quality, and flexibility for overtime and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience.
• Robotic control experience is a plus.
• Able to track and record output, yield, rate, machine efficiency.
• Able to track and record quality results.
• Have good situational judgment and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of packaging and automated equipment.
• Able to perform repairs and adjustment of manufacturing equipment
• Understand and follow company policies and procedures on GMP's & SOP's.
• Must be flexible to working hours including overtime & weekends.
• Must be fluent in speaking and writing in English

Responsibilities

• Safely operate equipment in the production of medical diagnostic test kits of various types. Meet all batch record and quality control requirements and specifications.
• Machine set-up and change over per SOP, includes performing quality control testing.
• Familiar with operating automated machinery through a User Interface (Tablet).
• Assist with pre and post line clearance; i.e. equipment set-up and take down.
• Work request and Logbook documentation.
• Will be required to lift up to 50 lbs, to fill up bins, hoppers etc. and maintain manufacturing materials on the line as required.
• Performing procedural adjustments of manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to diagnose & troubleshoot manufacturing equipment (to recognize and identify potential problems with equipment).
• Must be able to remove, replace, align, adjust and make necessary correction on all mechanical equipment in a timely matter.
• Performs equipment housekeeping. This includes performing all job clean up as related to maintenance tasks, duties and functions.
• Be able to identify equipment related safety issues.
• Performs LOTO Policy and Procedure, as required by SOP.
• Completing maintenance work requests in a timely manner.
• Performing projects as determined by the Assembly Supervisor, Lead Machine Maintenance Mechanic and Sr. Manager Facilities and Maintenance
• Other duties as needed to meet department, manufacturing or business needs

Position Summary:

The Temporary to Perm Packaging & Automation Machine Operator will perform a variety of tasks related to the setup, operation, adjustment, and basic troubleshooting of manufacturing and packaging equipment used in the production of rapid diagnostic test kits at Chembio. This position supports daily manufacturing and production requirements while ensuring compliance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety guidelines, and quality standards.

This is a temporary position with an anticipated duration of six (6) months to support current manufacturing and operational needs. Any extension or opportunity for continued employment will depend on business requirements and management approval.
