Job summary

Klein Tools is seeking a motivated production team member to operate semi-automated equipment, perform light assembly and packaging, and assist with setup and troubleshooting as needed on an on-site shift in Mansfield, TX.

You will read work orders and blueprints, inspect quality with basic gauges, document downtime and production counts, and collaborate in lean manufacturing initiatives to reduce waste. Commitment to quality, teamwork and safety is essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Ability to read and understand basic work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Run production jobs on semi-automated equipment and perform light assembly, packaging, press operations, or other manual tasks.
• Inspect product quality during production using gauges and visual checks.
• Read work orders and blueprints to ensure specifications and BOM accuracy.
• Troubleshoot minor machine issues and communicate defects to technicians.
• Record production counts, downtime and labor hours accurately.
• Support 6S/lean manufacturing initiatives to reduce waste.
• Cross-train by rotating to different machines and areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

You will be responsible for running production jobs on semi-automated equipment and performing light assembly, packaging, press operations or other manual tasks. This position may be responsible for minor setup and troubleshooting depending on the equipment and the area the employee is responsible for.

• Run production jobs on various types of semi-automated equipment and/or perform various types of light assembly, packaging, press operations, or other manual tasks by hand per written or verbal work instructions to produce quality parts while maintaining productivity standards.
• Inspect product for quality throughout production run using a variety of measuring tools such as go/no-go gauges and via visual inspection, record inspection findings, and write detailed downtime and other shift communications in a log book.
• Read work orders and blueprints to identify appropriate specifications for machine setup and product quality as required. Review work orders to ensure bill of materials are accurate and all inventory transactions are performed correctly.
• Troubleshoot minor machine issues and communicate quality defects to the technical staff as required.
• Report accurate count of production parts, scrap, and labor hours by completing required paperwork and/or electronic entry.
• Comply with established 6S standards and participate in various lean manufacturing activities to improve products, reduce waste, or learn new skills or operations.
• Cross-train by rotating to different machines and work areas as required.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and related experience preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand basic English.
• Ability to demonstrate basic math skills and perform visual quality inspections.
• Ability to demonstrate basic computer skills may be required depending on the equipment and the area the employee is responsible for.
• Ability to learn, problem-solve, and make decisions per work instructions and documents.
• Ability to communicate and work as a team member.
• Ability to work overtime as needed by the company is required.

Physical Demand Requirements

Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
