Job summary

Brandt Consolidated, Inc. is seeking a Packaging Line Operator to support the liquid packaging line under the supervision of the Production Supervisor. The role requires following instructions, maintaining safety rules, and ensuring efficient line operation.

The candidate will read batch tickets, adjust machine speed as needed, stock packing supplies, and communicate with the forklift operator to meet specifications. Lifting up to 100 lbs and respirator use may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to perform accurate math calculations.
• Must be able to lift 100 lbs and occasionally 70–100 lbs.
• Forklift certification or ability to be trained as a forklift operator.

Responsibilities

• Receives batch tickets and prepares line for packaging customer orders.
• Observes operation and speed of packing machine and makes adjustments as necessary.
• Ensures that adequate packing supplies are stocked in or near the packing machine.
• Clears jams and performs basic troubleshooting.
• Communicates with forklift operator and others on the line to ensure order is packaged per specifications.
• Participates in housekeeping in the facility.
• Follows all work instructions, SOPs, and safety rules, including PPE and respirator use when required.
• Reports any needed repairs or special maintenance to supervisor.
• Wears clean uniform and presents neatly each day.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

About this position

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Packaging Line Operator supports the liquid packaging line by performing the following duties.

Essential Functions

• Receives batch tickets and prepares line for packaging customer orders.
• Observes operation and speed of packing machine and makes adjustments when necessary.
• Ensures that adequate packing supplies are stocked in or near the packing machine.
• Clears jams and performs basic troubleshooting.
• Communicates with forklift operator and others on the line to ensure order is packaged in accordance with specifications.
• Participates in housekeeping (e.g. sweep, mop, dust, put items away in proper areas) in the facility.
• Follows, without exception, all work instructions, SOP’s, and safety rules, including use of all proper PPE and other safety equipment. Use of a respirator is required for certain batches.
• Reports any needed repairs or special maintenance to your supervisor immediately.
• Wears clean uniform and be neat in appearance each day.
• Performs all other duties assigned.

Classification/Expected Hours of Employment

• This position is a full-time position that is non-exempt. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, but must remain flexible to meet the needs of customers by working mandatory weekday and weekend overtime as needed. Work adjusted hours as business necessitates.

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Ability to demonstrate accurate math calculations.
• Must be able to lift 100 lbs.
• Ability to be trained as a certified forklift operator and safely operate a forklift.
• Punctuality and excellent attendance are expected and required.
