Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. seeks a Bridge Inspection Team Leader to spearhead Central and Eastern PA bridge inspection efforts across York, Camp Hill, Allentown, Fort Washington, or Philadelphia offices.

Qualifications

JMT isseekinga highly motivated individual to lead ourBridge Inspection work across Central and Eastern PA. The position can bebasedinJMT’sYork,Camp Hill, Allentown,Fort Washington, or Philadelphia,PAoffices.

Position Summary

The primary role for this individual is toexecute andmanage JMT’sCentral and Eastern PA bridge inspection work.The candidate willbe responsible forthe overall vision, business development, staffmanagement,and financial successofour bridgeinspection teamlocatedin various officesincentral and easternPA.This person willbe responsible formanagingand mentoringthetechnicalinspection staff, including coordinating staff assignments with theService Line Leader,Structureteamacross PA, andotherbridge inspection staffthroughout JMT’s footprint. The selected candidate will work closely with ourvariousPennsylvania Region Structure groupswhile managing, developing, fostering existing,and developing new market opportunitiesthroughoutPennsylvania with a focus on PennDOT Districts,Central Office,and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. The successful candidate will be expected tocoordinatedevelopment of teaming relationshipsandauthor anddevelopstatements of interest, technical and fee proposals, and presentations. In addition, the successful candidate willbe responsible forcoordination with clients, subconsultants, other government and regulatory agencies, and internal JMT staff.Finally, the candidate will serve as Bridge Inspection Team Leader asrequiredonproposed assignments.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Grow existing and new market presence in area through marketing and business development
  • Manage financial budget for department andallocateresources accordingly
  • Manageutilizationof staff
  • Lead and contribute to the production of proposals
  • Coordinate and serve as a resource to technical staff
  • Interview and hire staff for the section
  • Conduct performance reviews for staff
  • Coordinate work-sharing within region and between regions
  • Serve as Team Leaderin performing in-service bridge safety inspections
  • Develop, review, andmanage the production of bridge safety inspection reports
  • Understand requirements of all skill andsafety-basedcertifications and trackcompliance for field staff to ensure team members have adequate training asrequired
  • Attend Bridge Inspection Service Line Meetings to discuss workload, staffing, hiring andworksharing.

Required Skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Ability to manage, mentor, and provide guidance and direction to staff
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Thorough understanding of the PennDOT and PTCbridge inspectionpractices,inventory managementapplications,and bridge rating software
  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited program
  • Professional Engineer License in Pennsylvania
  • 10+ years ofprogressiveexperiencein Bridge Inspection
  • Experience working with PennDOT (MultipleDistricts preferred)
  • Experience working with PennDOT Central Office and PTC
  • Experience withBMS2, BMS3, PennDOT Bar7
  • Preferred Experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Bridge design experience is a plus
Working Conditions

Work is performed in the office (50% of the time) and in the field (50% of the time).

Field work will be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions and on uneven terrain or surfaces. Candidate must have the ability to perform inspections while bending, kneeling, or standing, and lift or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds as needed. Work will require the operation of access equipment and performing inspections at heights requiring fall protection.

Office work is performed within a general office environment. Work isgenerally sedentaryin nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature areadequateand there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
