Job summary

The GEO Group Australia Pty Ltd. is seeking a licensed practical nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care to detainees in a secure facility in Michigan.

You will participate in health assessments, develop care plans with RN guidance, and administer medications according to prescriptions while maintaining strict confidentiality. Ideal candidates hold a current LPN license, have strong diagnostic skills, empathy, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a security-focused

• Two years of direct work experience preferred.
• Ability to perform nursing diagnosis and follow-through treatment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Develop nursing care plans with guidance from the RN.
• Perform complete physical assessment and medical history.
• Provide nursing care within capacity and refer other medical problems to the appropriate physician.
• Administer prescribed medications as instructed.
• Periodically evaluate patients' symptoms, reactions, and progress, and report problems to management.
• Securely administer medication and prevent hoarding/trafficking.
• Follow industry and company accreditation policies.
• Document detainee/inmate contacts and keep medical records confidential.

Responsibilities

Summary: The Licensed Practical Nurse participates in the implementation and evaluation of the detainees/inmates’ health care needs and provides comprehensive nursing care while observing and maintaining the requirements of security.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop nursing care plans with guidance from the RN.
• Perform complete physical assessment and medical history.
• Provide nursing care within your capacity and refer other medical problems to the appropriate physician.
• Make sure prescribed medications are administered as instructed.
• Periodically evaluate patients' symptoms, reactions, and progress, and report problems to management.
• Securely administer medication, taking precautions against drug hoarding and trafficking.
• Follow industry and company accreditation policies.
• Document all detainee/inmate contacts and keep medical records confidential.

Minimum Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state the facility is located. Maintains a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times.
• Two (2) years of direct work experience preferred.
• Must possess competence in the performance of the following services: crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care.
• Must have the ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing nursing diagnosis, and be able provide appropriate follow through treatment.
• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
